About the Business
After working in a top city centre salon, Eileen Moat (Founder of The Hair Shop by Eileen) opened her own business in the late fifties in a small shop down Granville Street, Anlaby Road.
In the 1960's business was rather successful which meant Eileen moved her salon to 512 Anlaby Road which is the present day address. In the 1970's Eileen purchased the shop next door and made the current plot into one bigger salon. Which had as many as ten stylists, as well as apprentices. This move was a success and has made The Hair Shop by Eileen a thriving business for many years. In the 1980's Eileen scaled the business down back to one shop, being 512 Anlaby Road. This was due to the more personal and homely feel that it had with being a smaller cosier shop. Eileen worked with her section-content daughters, Elizabeth, Louise and Serena for many years before retiring over ten years ago.
