About the Business
Chop first started way back in 2001 when John McMahon spotted a a gap in the market and opened the first CHOP in Cheddar, Somerset. With the idea of bringing a city salon with the contemporary look to the country without the price tag.
Soon after opening John took on a barber to deal with the busy shop that he had created! Cue Chris Young, Chris was a young barber from Weston Super Mare with mad scissor skills and an eye for perfection. With this and Johns own natural talent for hairdressing and fashion, an instant successful partnership was born. Seeing that business was booming John decided to take on his fist apprentice, not only to keep the place tidy but to learn from two masters the ancient art of the scissors! Soon after they hired Alex Virdee, from the village of Cheddar himself, and who relished in the opportunity to the new skills of the barbering trade.
