About the Business
The company Chestnut was founded by Emily Blyde, who opened the salon at just age 19. From a very young age Emily knew hairdressing was her passion. Emily started working in salons after school, weekends and holidays from the young age of 13, her teachers at school said she 'was too clever to be just a hairdresser' - she didn't care this was her passion and as soon as she left school she went straight to North Hertfordshire Hairdressing college and obtained a Diploma in hairdressing, she then found a salon in old Welwyn and carried out an apprenticeship with Hertford regional college, there she won the award of young apprentice of the year!
